On May 1, 2011, the US Navy’s elite SEAL Team Six, raided a compound in an affluent Pakistani town called Abbottabad, two hours outside of Islamabad. Their target was Osama Bin Laden.

The entire mission took only 40 minutes and Osama Bin Laden was killed with an American bullet to his head.

U.S. President Barack Obama made a statement Sunday night, 10:30PM EST to officially announce the news to the world. Crowds gathered outside the White House in celebration of the al Qaeda leader’s death. Some were singing the “Hey, Hey, Goodbye” song and some people chanted, “USA! USA”.

Is this the end of the war on terrorism? Now that the leader of al Qaeda is dead, will this group of terrorists simply dissolve? President Barack Obama states that we still have to remain vigilant as this is not the end.

The world may be a better place now that Osama Bin Laden is dead, but what about all his loyal followers? Who will take his place as leader of al Qaeda? Will they consider the killing of Osama Bin Laden as a murder of their leader by the United States? What are their plans? Undoubtedly, possible retaliation attacks may happen.
